Project Overview

A limited edition of Alice in Wonderland, built around the first chapter: custom illustrations, type that can play without losing the line, and a vintage paper ground that feels held rather than distressed.

The spread should feel like opening a keepsake, not a textbook.

My Contributions

Research: Looked at historic Alice editions and contemporary illustrated books to find a pace that honours the classic without copying it.

Ideation: Pairing illustration and text as equals, then testing type that could be playful and still readable.

Design: Drew the chapter illustrations, set the layouts, and chose a vintage paper texture that sits behind the type.

Refinement: Balanced margins and image scale so art and text do not compete.

Outcome: A first-chapter object that feels nostalgic and current at once.

Design Notes

Illustrations sit with the text instead of decorating it. The type is chosen to echo the story's adventure without turning into costume lettering.

A vintage paper background adds nostalgia and a little tooth, so the page invites readers of any age back into Alice's world.
