Alice in Wonderland Illustrations
Student ProjectProject Overview
Illustrations for a limited edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, reimagining the first chapter through a Cottagecore lens. Hand-drawn work, refined digitally, for a young adult reader who wants whimsy with some earth in it.
These sit alongside the book-design project: same story, this time the pictures leading.
My Contributions
Research: Read the first chapter closely and looked at Cottagecore and historic Alice art to find a tone that was nostalgic without becoming cute.
Ideation: Set a dreamlike botanical palette and decided where vines and margins should carry the page.
Illustration: Drew each piece by hand, then refined it digitally so it could sit next to type.
Refinement: Checked how the images hold beside the text and on a cover, not only as standalone art.
Outcome: A set of editorial illustrations that invite a new generation into Wonderland.
Design Notes
Cottagecore gives the classic a warmer ground: botanical detail, a softer palette, and pages that feel grown rather than staged.
Vine-wrapped spreads and a cover that keeps Alice curious were drawn to live with the text, not on top of it.
